Inside Offa LG: Barrister Olusegun Olawoyin’s Governance and Development Milestones
When Barrister Olusegun Oluwatoyin Mosobolaje Olawoyin took office as Offa Local Government Chairman in November 2007, he set out to upgrade security, boost the local economy, and improve public services. His administration launched a neighbourhood watch service, partnered with security agencies, and built an operational office for civil defence. Youth empowerment schemes provided vocational training, start-up loans, and a motorcycle transport programme. Market roads were rehabilitated, shops added, and revenue processes reorganised to grow internally generated funds. Infrastructure projects included new roads with drainage systems, renovated schools and health centres, and expanded water and electricity supply. Environmental management was strengthened under the OFFA CLEAN campaign, and sports events and library upgrades fostered community engagement. These initiatives reshaped Offa’s social and economic landscape.
