Ogun State’s Former First Lady Yeye Olufunke Daniel Mourns Mother at 93

The Opawole and Daniel families are grieving the peaceful passing of Chief Mrs. Sabainah Ibironke Opawole, née Osoba, at 93 on July 2, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on April 23, 1933, she was the daughter of Princess Mariam Ladigbolu of the Oyo Kingdom and the late Rev. O. Osoba from Olodo Village, Abeokuta. A lifelong Baptist, she upheld faith, family, and quiet dignity until her final days. She leaves behind children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including former Ogun State First Lady Yeye Olufunke Daniel. Tributes have poured in from family and friends across Ogun State and beyond as funeral plans are announced.

I respect the mourning but focusing on her family's royal connections feels a bit overdone instead of celebrating her personal achievements.

Even in public mourning, simple family traditions like sharing old stories or photos can bring genuine comfort through shared memories.
