LASEMA Reports Container Fall, Road Crashes and Fires Across Lagos

LASEMA Reports Container Fall, Road Crashes and Fires Across Lagos

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has responded to several incidents across the state, the Permanent Secretary Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said in a recent statement. At Apongbon on Eko Bridge, a 40-foot container fell from a Mack truck onto a van. No lives were lost, but traffic was gridlocked until responders cleared the container. In Barracks toward the Stadium, a truck lost control and toppled, blocking the road. The driver escaped unhurt and LASTMA towed the vehicle away. On 7Up Road in front of the Governor’s Office, a three-vehicle crash involving a GAC Jeep, a police Hilux and a luxury bus left one person injured and taken to hospital. Ajao Estate saw a fire destroy a storey building—preliminary checks point to a power surge. At CMS Bridge Landmark Marina Station, a mechanical fault sparked a blaze in a truck carrying 10,000 litres of diesel. No casualties were recorded and crews contained the fire. Residents are urged to stay alert and report emergencies immediately via the toll-free lines 112 or 767.

While emergencies happen, Lagos roads often see minor crashes. This report feels like chasing headlines rather than addressing routine traffic controls.
