Taraba Farmers Demand Probe as 8,000 Tinubu Fertiliser Bags Go Missing
Farmers in Taraba State have raised concerns over 8,000 bags of fertiliser supplied under President Bola Tinubu’s Fertiliser Input Support Programme that are allegedly unaccounted for. The state received 20,000 bags of NPK and Urea fertiliser. The All Farmers Association of Nigeria received 12,000 bags for distribution, while the remaining 8,000 bags were reportedly assigned to the Taraba State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for cooperatives and organised farmers. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture’s director in Taraba, Luka Dabut, said the fertiliser was formally handed over to the state ministry in the presence of security agencies. However, Agriculture Commissioner Nicholas Namessan denied that the ministry took custody of the bags. Farmers say they have not received the allocation meant for them and are asking security agencies, the Presidency and Governor Agbu Kefas to investigate the conflicting claims.
