Nigerian Jailed in UK for Attempted Murder of Estranged Wife in Front of Daughter
A Nigerian man, Osarenkhoe Atutie, has been jailed in the UK after admitting the attempted murder of his estranged wife in Edinburgh. Atutie repeatedly stabbed Victory Atutie on Duke Street in Leith on 11 November 2025 while she was pushing their young daughter in a pram. She suffered multiple stab wounds, a collapsed lung and permanent facial scarring. Three passers-by intervened, disarmed him and restrained him until police arrived. The court said their actions helped prevent the attack from becoming fatal. He received an extended sentence of seven and a half years in prison, followed by 18 months of supervision. A lifelong non-harassment order also bars him from contacting his former wife.
