Two Police Officers Killed While Repelling Gunmen Attack on Anambra Chief of Staff’s Convoy
Two officers with the Anambra State Police Command died late Sunday while defending the convoy of the Chief of Staff. The incident occurred along the Ndiukwuenu–Amansea road when unknown gunmen ambushed the police escort. A tricycle operator shared footage showing an abandoned Hilux and the wounded officers at the scene. Police Spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the attack and explained that the officers engaged the assailants to protect the principal and other convoy members. Ikenga said security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt for the suspects. He appealed to residents to remain calm and urged anyone with useful information to contact the nearest station. He added that the attack appears to be a criminal act rather than a targeted assassination attempt.
