Two Relatives Arrested for Kidnapping and Killing of 9-Year-Old in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command says it has detained two relatives, Yahaya Zubairu and Babangida Muhammad (both 20), for the kidnap and murder of their nine-year-old cousin, Barhama Abubakar, in Alkaleri Local Government Area. The suspects abducted the boy on 21 March 2026 and demanded a N1 million ransom from his father. Police detectives, led by the DPO of Alkaleri Division, traced the suspects, arrested them and recovered the victim’s decomposed body. A medical examination confirmed his death was caused by ligatures tied around his neck and legs. Both men confessed to luring the child under the pretense of buying biscuits and targeting his father for money. Investigation is ongoing, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. The Commissioner of Police urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
