Eight, Including Three Children, Killed in Suspected Terrorist Raid on Benue Village

The police in Benue state have confirmed that eight people—five adults and three children—were killed in a suspected terrorist attack on a rural community in Otukpo Local Government Area. Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu said he spent Sunday with security teams in the bush to assess the scene and calm rising tensions. He described the assault as “purely a terrorist attack.” Eyewitnesses report that the attackers used guerrilla tactics, striking quickly before disappearing into nearby forests. The road has since reopened after local youths agreed to stand down. Investigations are ongoing to determine if this raid is connected to earlier violence in the area. Security agencies say they are intensifying efforts to track the gunmen and prevent further attacks.
