Iran Warns US Ground Forces Could Face a ‘Swamp of Death’

Iran has delivered a stern warning to the United States amid reports of possible ground operations in the Middle East. In a video statement, military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaqari accused US leaders of imbalance and reckless decisions that could lead their troops into a “swamp of death.” The Pentagon is reportedly weighing limited deployments of special forces and conventional troops. Former President Trump has publicly denied any troop movements, saying, “I’m not putting troops anywhere.” Nonetheless, about 3,500 additional US personnel have arrived aboard the USS Tripoli unit. Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf urged readiness to respond with force if American boots hit the ground. He warned that missiles are in place and that Islamic Republic forces stand prepared to act decisively. Tensions have intensified after recent strikes in Tehran caused power outages. Tehran has also threatened to target US-linked institutions in the region, including universities, in retaliation. While Washington insists no final decision has been made, military planners continue to monitor strategic sites such as Kharg Island.
