5 Skincare Myths Debunked: What You Need to Know

Skincare advice can be confusing. Not every tip you hear is true. Some myths do more harm than good. Here are five common skincare myths I’m busting: 1. Oily skin doesn’t need moisturizer. This is false. Every skin type needs moisture, and skipping moisturizer can make oily skin produce even more oil. 2. Dark skin doesn’t need sunscreen. Even though darker skin has more natural UV protection, it can still suffer sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and skin cancer. 3. Expensive products are always better. The price tag doesn’t guarantee effectiveness. What matters most are the ingredients and how they suit your skin. 4. Natural ingredients are always safe. Some natural extracts can irritate the skin or trigger allergies, just like synthetic ones. 5. The more you wash your face, the clearer it becomes. Overwashing strips your skin of natural oils and can worsen irritation and breakouts. Skincare is personal. What works for someone else might not work for you. Focus on understanding your skin instead of chasing every trend you see online.

Have you ever skipped moisturizer because your skin feels oily, only to end up with more breakouts later?

True, skipping moisturizer can actually make your skin produce more oil and clog pores, causing breakouts.

I'm not convinced skipping moisturizer really leads to oilier skin; maybe other factors like diet and stress matter more.

Try pairing a lightweight, noncomedogenic moisturizer with regular exfoliation; balancing hydration can calm oil production and improve skin texture.
