Anambra First Lady Calls for Collective Action Against Malaria on World Malaria Day

Anambra First Lady Calls for Collective Action Against Malaria on World Malaria Day

On World Malaria Day, the Anambra State First Lady urged every resident to join the fight against malaria. She reminded communities that this disease remains a serious threat to children and pregnant women, yet it is both preventable and treatable. She highlighted simple, life-saving steps: sleep under insecticide-treated nets, clear stagnant water and refuse, and seek medical attention at the first sign of symptoms. These measures, she said, can protect families and reduce the burden of malaria across the state. The First Lady reaffirmed that the Soludo administration is dedicated to supporting health initiatives that promote cleaner environments and healthier lifestyles. Together, she stressed, Nigerians can build a future in which no family loses a loved one to a preventable illness.

Not sure if simply urging residents will change habits though; strong policy enforcement and resource provision might be more effective than speeches.

Regularly clearing standing water around homes and using treated mosquito nets are low-cost measures every family can adopt immediately to prevent malaria.
