Tinubu Channels Presidential Salaries into Support Fund for Wounded Soldiers and Families

Today, on my 74th birthday, I honour the bravery of our Armed Forces. I have directed the Accountant-General to set up a special account for a fund dedicated to serving personnel, those injured in action, and the families of the fallen. As a personal pledge, all my presidential salaries to date will seed this fund. It will complement existing welfare schemes and provide direct support to amputees, widows, widowers, and children of heroes who gave their lives for our nation. I call on Governors, legislators, the private sector and all well-wishers to join this duty-driven effort. Together, we will never forget those who stand in harm’s way for our peace.

Local veterans associations could partner with federal agencies to track disbursement and offer immediate support where gaps appear.
