Trump Says Iran Has Final Chance for Deal as Strait of Hormuz Talks Continue

US President Donald Trump says Iran has a final opportunity to reach an agreement before facing what he described as “decapitation.” He told reporters that talks were underway at Iran’s request, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar supporting the effort. Trump said discussions would happen in two phases. The first would focus on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while the second would address Iran’s nuclear capacity. He also said the US would oppose any charges on ships passing through the strategic waterway. Iran has denied holding negotiations with Washington. Its Foreign Ministry said it was instead working with Oman on a temporary route to support safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

What would a workable agreement even look like here, especially with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar reportedly supporting the talks?

Calling it Iran's final opportunity may be more pressure tactic than a sign that diplomacy has actually run out.

If talks are continuing, all sides should focus on clear terms and avoid public statements that make compromise harder.
