Thailand May Close Petrol Stations Overnight to Conserve Fuel Amid Middle East Tensions
Thailand’s government is weighing a policy to shut petrol stations between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. as early as April 20. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the measure would follow the Songkran holiday and would not affect holiday travel. The proposal aims to ease fuel shortages linked to the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran. The prime minister urged citizens to work from home and use public transport where possible to reduce consumption. Anutin also warned against trader profiteering. He accused some fuel suppliers of hoarding and smuggling, which has driven up prices and strained reserves.
