Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Meets APC Leaders Ahead of Possible Defection

Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Meets APC Leaders Ahead of Possible Defection

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi hosted APC national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and Kano State governor Abba Yusuf at the Government House in Bauchi. The closed-door meeting comes as Mohammed considers leaving the Peoples Democratic Party. On Tuesday, the governor told ADC leaders that he had explored joining the APC with his supporters but felt unwelcome. He spoke of setting up committees at national and state levels to evaluate all options amid a leadership crisis in the PDP. Mohammed said his people are under pressure to find a new platform. He praised the ADC as a preferred option, but his sit-down with APC officials hints he may yet join the ruling party, which now controls 31 states.

It's interesting he met APC chairman and Kano governor behind closed doors; wonder whose interests they're serving.

I'm not convinced that a single meeting signals a real shift; politicians often explore alliances without actual defection.

If Mohammed does switch parties, grassroots support in Bauchi will be crucial; local leaders must prepare for potential campaign changes.
