Obosi Union Refutes BBC: Kidnapper of Dr. Emegoakor Arrested in Nkpor, Not Obosi
The Obosi Development Union president has rejected a BBC Igbo report claiming the mastermind of Dr. Edwin Emegoakor’s abduction lived and was arrested in Obosi. He clarified that the suspect, known as Mr. Fabolous, was found and detained at his home in Abommili Estate, Mgbachu, Nkpor, Anambra State. The union leader urged journalists and major outlets to verify facts before broadcasting stories that could tarnish an entire community’s reputation. He reminded reporters that misrepresentation of details can embarrass innocent residents. Dr. Emegoakor, chief medical director of Crown Hospital, Nkpor, was kidnapped on May 7 when gunmen invaded the facility. Security forces later raided the Nkpor location, rescued him, and arrested the alleged mastermind. Local youths reportedly destroyed the house where the suspect was held.
