Borno Government to Hire 100 Biu Graduates to Curb Thuggery
Borno State Governor has approved the employment of 100 unemployed graduates from Biu Local Government Area. This initiative targets youth restiveness, political thuggery and other social vices. The governor announced the plan during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Biu. He also flagged off the 2026 wet farming season and launched subsidised fertiliser sales for smallholder farmers. Under the scheme, each council will employ 50 graduates, while larger councils like Maiduguri Metropolitan, Jere, Bama, Askira/Uba and Gwoza will take on 100 each. The governor warned against vandalism and urged community leaders to join the fight against drug abuse and gangsterism. He added that the APC governorship candidate’s running mate will be unveiled next week.
