World Bank’s GAFSP Opens $163 Million Grant to Strengthen Food Security
A new $163 million grant cycle under the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program has been launched to tackle rising hunger and support smallholder farmers in vulnerable countries. Hosted by the World Bank, this funding round invites eligible governments to propose sustainable agricultural projects that boost food production, build climate resilience, and improve rural livelihoods. The program addresses challenges such as high food prices, climate shocks, and reduced development aid. It prioritizes innovations in climate-smart farming, irrigation, rural infrastructure, and digital agriculture. Special focus will be given to women, youth, farmers’ cooperatives, and conflict-affected regions that need both food security and economic recovery. Applications remain open for four months, with guidance webinars and technical support available for government agencies and development partners. Interested parties are encouraged to prepare proposals that emphasize sustainability, innovation, and long-term impact on food systems.
