Osun Governorship: Reject Intimidation, Vote with Courage
With the Osun governorship election days away, reports of violence and intimidation have overshadowed policy debates. Supporters have suffered attacks, lives have been lost, and campaign materials destroyed. This climate of fear undermines democracy. Past clashes in the state should have served as a warning that politics must not return to violence. Elections are meant to unite communities, not tear them apart. No ballot is worth a human life, and those who incite thuggery are betraying the youth they exploit. Security agencies must act impartially to arrest and prosecute offenders. INEC should deploy extra measures in identified hotspots to guarantee a free and fair vote. Traditional and community leaders should speak out firmly against political violence. Osun voters deserve to cast their ballots without fear. History will remember those who upheld the law and protected peace, not those who fuelled intimidation. Now is the time to choose democracy over violence.
