Nigeria Unveils Africa’s Largest Education Data Platform Tracking 32 Million Learners
The Federal Government has launched the Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS) to strengthen planning and transparency in schools nationwide. The platform now captures data from over 32 million students in 204,048 schools across all states, the FCT and 774 local government areas. It helps identify where resources like classrooms, teachers and learning materials are needed most. Nigeria now accounts for 32 million of the 45 million education records on the DHIS2 platform globally, making it the world’s largest implementation. This project is part of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), which aims to boost accountability and ensure that investments in education deliver measurable results. Officials say reliable data and evidence-based planning will shape a stronger education system and provide quality learning for every Nigerian child.
