Kogi Youth Leader Demands APC Govt Act Now on Rising Insecurity
The Voice of the Citizens group president Dr. Ahmed Ubianya has criticized the federal government’s inability to curb violence and killings in Kogi State and other parts of Nigeria. He highlighted weaknesses in the security architecture, including poor intelligence gathering, slow responses, and poor coordination among agencies. He warned that delays in justice foster reprisals and allow non-state armed groups to thrive. He pointed to deeper drivers of violence, such as land disputes, ethnic and religious tensions, climate-induced migration pressures, and the unchecked proliferation of small arms. Dr. Ubianya recalled recent incidents under the APC-led administration, including the killing of a traditional ruler, major abductions on transport routes, the burning alive of a PDP woman leader, and the disappearance of opposition figures after the 2023 governorship election. He accused the government of prioritizing self-defense over citizen protection and urged urgent reforms to safeguard lives and national wealth.
