2002 Toyota Corolla for Sale: Honest History and Reverse Gear Fault

2002 Toyota Corolla for Sale: Honest History and Reverse Gear Fault — 1 of 4
1 / 4

I am selling my 2002 Toyota Corolla, nicknamed Echelon. I have owned it since 2021, before I got married. When I bought it, the body needed work and the engine smoked badly. In 2022, I replaced the engine, changed the engine mounts and improved the car’s appearance. It has served me and my family well. The ownership transfer has now been properly completed, and the car has a new number plate. However, after an engine wash, the reverse gear developed a fault. The car moves forward normally, but it reverses very slowly even when revved. I am offering it for ₦2,000,000. Interested buyers can inspect the car and make an offer.

How does the reverse gear fault show up in daily use, and has any mechanic identified the likely cause?

Does the reverse issue happen consistently, or only under certain driving conditions?

The honest history is helpful. Replacing the smoky engine and mounts in 2022 shows you have addressed major issues rather than hiding them.

Good disclosure, but the reverse gear issue may worry buyers more than the body work, especially without a clear repair diagnosis.

A current mechanic's assessment and estimated reverse gear repair cost would help serious buyers price the car more confidently.
