AE-FUNAI Agriculture Faculty Proposes Integrated Farm to Drive Agribusiness Growth
The Faculty of Agriculture at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike has submitted a five-year proposal to establish an integrated commercial farm. The initiative aims to transform the campus farm into a sustainable agribusiness, strengthen practical training and boost local food production. The plan will unite crop production, livestock, fisheries and agro-processing under one management system. Early revenue streams will come from high-return ventures like ginger, seed yam, broilers and catfish. Longer-term investments such as cattle ranching and orchard development will follow. A robust monitoring framework with performance indicators and risk safeguards is included. Infrastructure upgrades, feed milling, processing units and export-ready market plans are detailed. The farm will be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, with the Vice-Chancellor chairing the board. The Vice-Chancellor praised the timely proposal and urged private partnerships for sustained profit.
