Why the #OccupyINEC Protest by Peter Obi, Atiku and ADC Fell Flat
For posterity, I will explain why the recent #OccupyINEC protest in Abuja by ADC leaders drew so few Nigerians. First, a crippled economy has forced most people into survival mode. Daily hardships have killed hope and true patriotism. Many will only join mass rallies if there is material relief on offer. Second, figures like Peter Obi, Atiku and Rotimi Amaechi are seen as part of the old guard. Their past roles in PDP and APC have damaged public trust. They never gave a strong fight against the flawed electoral reform. Looking ahead, real change may spring from a grassroots movement rather than party elites. A genuine people-led uprising could replace broken structures and shape a new nation before 2027.
