Toddler, 10-Year-Old Girl and Driver Electrocuted by Power Surge in Manchok, Kaduna

On Saturday, March 21, a high-tension cable collapsed onto lower-voltage lines in Manchok, Kaura LGA, Kaduna State. The incident triggered a sudden power surge into nearby homes. A two-year-old boy was electrocuted after touching a phone charger once electricity returned. A 10-year-old girl died while adjusting a cloth on an iron pole outside her house. A local driver, Rilwanu Musa, was also fatally electrocuted while ironing his clothes. Kaura LG council secretary Haruja Pius expressed deep sadness over the tragedy. He urged families to find strength in their faith and conveyed the condolences of council chairman Sankyai Obadiah. “This kind of loss is hard to bear,” Pius said.
