JTF Troops Nab Five Suspected Terrorist Informants in Niger State
Troops of Joint Task Force Operation Savannah Shield have arrested five suspected terrorist informants in separate operations across Niger State. On June 6, patrols along the Doro axis in Borgu LGA detained three suspects linked to bandit cells near Kainji Lake National Park. Recovered items included two Tecno phones, an MP3 player with recorded propaganda and ransom messages, and ₦113,400 in cash. During a routine patrol around the 221 Battalion cantonment perimeter, soldiers apprehended two more suspects suspected of gathering intelligence on military positions. Investigators found an Android phone containing a photo of a beheaded victim dated May 2, 2026, plus another Tecno phone, a motorcycle, and ₦86,100. All five suspects and exhibits remain in custody for further questioning. The operation highlights the JTF’s resolve to dismantle terror support networks and secure the region.
