Amaarae Names Janet Jackson the True ‘King of Pop’, Hails ‘The Velvet Rope’

Ghanaian-American artist Amaarae has praised Janet Jackson as the real ‘King of Pop’. In a recent interview she explained why she favours Janet over her brother, Michael Jackson. Amaarae says every Janet Jackson album is outstanding, but singles out her 1997 release The Velvet Rope. She calls it vulnerable, sensual, aggressive and experimental. She clarifies that her opinion isn’t meant to disrespect Michael Jackson, but reflects her admiration for Janet’s artistry.
