Abia Poised to Launch State Police Service, Says Governor Otti

Governor Alex Otti says Abia State is ready to establish its own police service. He spoke during a media briefing and confirmed that planning is already underway. The state’s Homeland Security leadership is drawing up the details. A retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Azubuko Uda, also backed the plan and described Abia as well-positioned to lead the initiative. Uda argued that a state police force would improve security coordination, funding, welfare and operational efficiency. He highlighted Aba’s role as a major commercial hub and said dedicated policing would boost investor confidence. He added that careful planning with experienced stakeholders is crucial for a smooth and effective transition.
