Kogi: Two Children and Shoemaker Freed After Seven Weeks in Captivity for N6 Million Ransom

Two children and a local shoemaker who were abducted by bandits in Ijalu, Egbe (Yagba West, Kogi State) on June 3 have been released after 49 days. Troops and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria rescued the victims on the night of July 21 following payment of a reduced ransom demand of ₦6 million and delivery of additional supplies. Their mother and baby brother had been freed by security forces on the day of the attack. The two children are now receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital. No update has been provided on the shoemaker’s condition.
