Saka Hints At Arsenal’s Ideal Champions League Final Opponent

Saka Hints At Arsenal’s Ideal Champions League Final Opponent — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Bukayo Saka has suggested that Arsenal’s squad has a clear preference for who they want to face in the upcoming Champions League final. The England star’s decisive goal earned a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid and secured Arsenal’s first European final appearance since 2006. The Gunners will meet either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich in Budapest on May 30. Pressed by CBS Sports on his preferred opponent, Saka admitted he’d offer a media-safe answer at first but then teased, “You know deep down who we’d want to face in the final.” A showdown with PSG promises revenge after last season’s exit, while Bayern remind them of their 3-1 group-stage victory. With a Premier League challenge still in play, Mikel Arteta’s side now refocus on fixtures against West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace before the European finale.

I agree with Saka. A final against a high-pressing opponent fits Arsenal's strengths and quick transitions.

It's interesting that Arsenal's first European final since 2006 hinges on one decisive goal from Saka.

I'm not convinced a preference for a final opponent matters much once kick-off arrives; form on the day counts.

Arsenal should focus on refining their set-piece routines to maintain momentum and adapt to any final opponent's tactics.
