Ransom Bag Found in Seriki Fulani’s Kitchen as Ogun Kidnap Probe Widens

Authorities have arrested 67-year-old Seriki Fulani Abdullai Muhammadu and his eldest son in connection with a series of kidnappings around Ijebu Ode. A bag used to deliver ransom payments was recovered from his home kitchen. The community leader admits he knew his son Bala was jailed for kidnapping and even provided medical care after his release. He insists he had no role in the recent crimes and believed his son had reformed. Police linked several abductions in Ijebu Ode, Imodi, Irewon, Iwode, Okun Owa and neighbouring areas to Bala. After receiving a tip-off, Bala and two brothers fled into the bush. Manhunt efforts are ongoing. The Ogun State Police Command commended national and state leaders for supporting intelligence-led operations. Residents are urged to continue sharing credible information to help dismantle criminal networks.

While the arrest seems straightforward, is it fair to blame the father without clear evidence he handled the ransom himself?
