Osun Election Tensions Raise Questions About Tinubu’s Popularity

Developments surrounding the Osun election have been disturbing. Reports of arrests involving Accord Party members, alleged thuggery and inflammatory comments attributed to a sitting senator have raised serious concerns about whether the process is fair. To me, the APC appears determined to secure victory in Osun at all costs. This raises questions about President Tinubu’s political strength in the South-West, where supporters often portray him as widely popular. If a party truly enjoys broad support, why should violence and intimidation feature in its electoral strategy? Is this the approach the APC intends to take into the 2027 elections across Nigeria? How long can citizens endure election-related violence before they demand accountability and change?
