Ex-NSIPA CEO Halima Shehu Asks Tinubu to Release EFCC Probe Report
Former National Social Investment Programme Agency CEO Halima Shehu has asked President Bola Tinubu to direct the EFCC to release its report on allegations that led to her suspension in January 2024. In an open letter, Shehu said the report would clear her name. She alleged that she uncovered financial irregularities at the agency, reported them to the ICPC in December 2023, and was suspended about 10 days later. Shehu also claimed that nearly ₦14 billion was withdrawn from NSIPA accounts without her approval and that unauthorised signatories were added to the agency’s Remita account. She said the EFCC recovered no money from her and that she has received neither a conclusion to the investigation nor her outstanding entitlements. The allegations are Shehu’s claims, and the EFCC has not publicly released the outcome of its investigation.
