Reforming Yoruba Orthography: Distinct Spellings for Homophones

I propose a new Yoruba writing system that gives each word its own spelling. This reduces reliance on tonal marks and lets readers grasp meaning at a glance. Yoruba has many homophones such as Ogun for war, property, medicine, and sweat. Using only tonal marks can slow down reading and cause confusion. Assigning unique spellings to each meaning will improve clarity. English distinguishes words by spelling rather than tone, making it easy to read. Adopting a similar system for Yoruba can speed comprehension. The rest of this discussion will continue in Yoruba.
