Parasitic Companies in Nigeria: Coca-Cola’s Rewards vs 7Up’s Shortcomings
I’ve noticed some Nigerian companies focus solely on profits without giving back to customers. I call these “parasitic” businesses that take but never reward loyalty. In the bottling sector, Nigerian Bottling Company (Coca-Cola) shines through quality products and regular promotions. Over the years they’ve offered recharge cards, cash prizes, car giveaways and even created millionaires. Their current campaign shares over ₦600 million in prizes nationwide. By contrast, the 7Up Bottling Company has drawn complaints about watery drinks and a lack of customer incentives despite rising prices. Fans say the brand fails to reward loyalty or surprise its consumers with occasional rewards. There’s no government agency enforcing customer appreciation, so companies must lead. Consistent rewards build sustainable relationships. This post is not promotional—it’s based on observation and patriotism. Nigerians deserve more than parasitic patronage.
