Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission has revealed plans to boost power availability in Nnewi through stronger regulations and oversight. FirstPower’s managing director highlighted power theft as the company’s biggest challenge. He said the distributor has procured single-phase and two-phase prepaid meters, priced at ₦124,000 and ₦207,000 respectively, to curb losses and phase out estimated billing. Local lawmakers also pledged legislative support to ensure steady supply. Community leaders have been briefed on the meter rollout and are urged to partner with security agencies against electricity theft.
