Mother of Three Vanishes After Fake Job Offer Leads to Suspected Murder
A 37-year-old Virginia mother of three disappeared after traveling to West Virginia for a promised assistant manager position. Angel Whitaker left Bristol, Va., in January 2026 when former associate Donald Pennington offered her a role at an auto parts store in Bluefield, W.Va. She moved in with him but lost all contact by April and was reported missing in early May. Investigators say the relationship soured, and Pennington’s ex-girlfriend later told police he choked Whitaker during an argument before allegedly burying her body in a remote Virginia location. She led authorities to the site, but cadaver dogs failed to recover remains. Pennington is charged with second-degree murder and concealment of a body. Whitaker leaves behind three children aged 18, 17, and 12. Pennington is held at the regional correctional facility and has pleaded not guilty.
