Bangkok Police Bust Nigerian-Led Heroin Ring, Seize 65.5kg of Drugs
Police in Bangkok have arrested a Nigerian man and two Thai women after uncovering 65.5kg of heroin worth around 200 million baht. The Nigerian suspect, known only as Obi, was detained at a hotel in the Suan Luang district. Officers also arrested Kanyarat at an apartment in Bung Kum and Somporn at the southern bus terminal as she prepared to board a bus to Phuket. Investigators say the heroin was smuggled from Laos into Nong Khai province and stored at the hotel before being packaged in snack and pet feed bags. A Nigerian romance scam network allegedly lured Thai women and paid them 30,000 baht per delivery to distribute the drugs to dealers in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.
