Lagos Records 61.5% Pass Rate in 2025 WASSCE, Sponsors ₦1.4bn for 45,598 Students
Lagos State Government announced that 61.52% of its sponsored public school students scored five credits in the 2025 WASSCE, including English and Mathematics. The state paid ₦1.4 billion to register 45,598 SS3 students for the 2026 exam to remove financial barriers to quality education. The Eko Learners Support Initiative, launched in January 2025, has strengthened exam readiness through targeted interventions and digital learning tools. Essential textbooks, smart devices and a new Teachers Digital Hub now support consistent access to modern educational content across all six districts. The ministry also expanded school access and infrastructure. Over 3,000 candidates gained provisional admission into Model Colleges, 15 schools were built or rehabilitated in underserved areas, and ergonomic furniture and classroom blocks now serve thousands more learners. Additional programmes include partnerships with NGOs for healthcare and entrepreneurship training, and HPV vaccinations for over 18,000 girls under the school health initiative.
