From Miss Black America to WWE Hall of Famer: The Rise of Queen Sharmell

Sharmell Sullivan‐Huffman first made headlines in 1991 when she won the Miss Black America pageant. Over the years, she transitioned from touring with top artists to lighting up arenas as a Nitro Girl under the name Storm. By 1999 she had signed with WCW, managing cruiserweights as Paisley and proving she could compete in the ring. Her standout moments include rapid victories over Torrie Wilson and memorable matches alongside The Artist and other Nitro Girls. In 2022 she earned a well-deserved spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, cementing her legacy in sports entertainment. Off camera, she’s married to fellow wrestling legend Booker T and is a proud mother and stepmother to three children.
