Nigerian Troops Rescue Two Girls Who Fled Terrorist Enclave in Mandara Mountains
Troops from the 82 Division Task Force Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI spotted two stranded girls near Armuda Bridge during a routine patrol at Ngoshe, Gwoza LGA in Borno State. They immediately confirmed the girls were civilians and brought them to safety. The victims, 15-year-old Bintu Adamu and 11-year-old Sadiya Jummai, had been abducted by terrorists and held in a Chinene hideout. They seized an opportunity to escape and were rescued at about 7:00 a.m. on July 2, 2026. After administering first aid, the troops cleared the surrounding area to remove any threat. The girls were then handed over to the Ngoshe community leader for reunification with their families. This operation highlights ongoing military efforts to dismantle insurgent camps and protect vulnerable communities in North-East Nigeria.
