Four Brothers Slain in Early-Morning Attack on Anambra Cattle Camp
In the early hours of July 21, armed gunmen stormed a cattle camp in Agu-Ifite, Awka South LGA, Anambra State, killing four herders from the same family. The victims—Mohammed, Hassan, Abubakar and Sani Bujumi—were attacked while tending cattle. A statement from the national deputy director-general of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria says the assailants also slaughtered several cows and fled with carcasses toward the nearby Mgbakwu Community. One herder, Usman Iliyasu, narrowly escaped. Security forces, including a police-led Joint Security Team, later discovered four slain cows, two partially butchered animals and two huts set ablaze during the raid. The Anambra State Police Command has launched a full investigation and urged the public to provide credible information as they work to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
