Troops and Police Halt ISWAP Kidnap at Monguno College, Rescue 46 Students
In the early hours of Sunday, soldiers from Operation HADIN KAI and the Nigeria Police Mobile Force thwarted an ISWAP-led abduction at Federal Government Girls College Monguno. The coordinated response rescued 46 students and forced the attackers to flee without taking hostages. The assault began around 1:30 a.m. at the school, which the Borno State Government now uses as temporary accommodation for Federal Polytechnic Monguno students. Security personnel engaged the militants immediately, while a Quick Reaction Force from Sector 3 reinforced the campus. All rescued students were evacuated to Kainssara Barracks in Monguno for medical assessments. Officials confirmed they are now medically stable and receiving necessary care. Sadly, some students were killed by stray bullets during the shoot-out as the attackers retreated.
