Abia Police Charge Woman with Attempted Murder After Knife Attack on 12-Year-Old Niece
The Abia State Police Command has arrested 35-year-old Nwoko Gift from Imo State for allegedly assaulting her 12-year-old niece, Ebo Chimamanda, with a kitchen knife. The incident occurred on July 5 at IBB Housing Estate, Umuahia. Officers say Gift attacked the girl after she failed to hang clothes to dry before the suspect left for the market. Police operatives from World Bank Divisional Headquarters intervened, rescued the victim and recovered the weapon. Reports also reveal a history of domestic abuse against the child. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry. Gift remains in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations conclude.
