ABU Marks World Environment Day With Tree-Planting and Ecosystem Restoration Drive

Ahmadu Bello University has highlighted the importance of restoring its environment at its 2026 World Environment Day symposium and tree-planting exercise. The university said the theme, “Inspired by Nature: Restoring ABU’s Ecosystem for Resilience, Adaptation and a Sustainable Microclimate,” reflects the need to protect the campus environment and build resilience against climate pressures. A keynote speaker noted that Nigeria’s rapidly expanding cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt, need better planning to prevent pressure on land, infrastructure and natural ecosystems. Stakeholders from Kaduna State and beyond attended the event.
