Navy Imposes 13-Hour Waterway Curfew in Calabar to Tackle Kidnapping
The Nigerian Navy has announced a daily curfew from 5 am to 6 pm on all maritime activities along the Calabar-Oron channel. This measure aims to curb recent kidnappings and other criminal acts on the waterways. A new security outpost has been established at Idung I (Peacock Crossing) to monitor creek activities more effectively. Combined raids by NNS Victory and FOB Ibaka cleared suspected militants from fishing communities on Dayspring Island. Troops from the Navy and Army’s 13 Brigade now maintain dominance over adjoining waterways. During operations, they discovered and demolished a militant hideout and confiscated two boats. One suspect identified as a militant informant has been apprehended and is under interrogation before transfer to the appropriate security agency. The Navy vows to sustain this posture until all criminal elements are eliminated.
