CSOs Call for Reintegration of Repentant Terrorists Under Operation Safe Corridor with Close Monitoring

CSOs Call for Reintegration of Repentant Terrorists Under Operation Safe Corridor with Close Monitoring

At a recent press conference, civil society organizations argued that individuals who joined Boko Haram and ISWAP deserve a second chance. They said confusion and difficult life circumstances drove many into crime. The group urged the expansion of Operation Safe Corridor, established in 2016 by the Defence Headquarters and partner agencies. The program offers vocational training and psychological support to “low-risk” repentant insurgents. CSOs stressed that successful reintegration must include strict monitoring of movements and activities. They noted these former fighters have no home beyond Nigeria and deserve the opportunity to rebuild their lives alongside other citizens.
