The Other Side of the Bridge: A Stunning Nollywood Tale of Grit and Redemption

The Other Side of the Bridge: A Stunning Nollywood Tale of Grit and Redemption

The Other Side of the Bridge is a Nollywood drama directed by Fiyin Gambo and starring Demi Banwo, Femi Branch, Ireti Doyle, Teniola Aladese and Tobi Bakre. It follows a former teenage boxing champion who enters a must-win tournament to save his trainer’s gym and clashes with Farouk, a cash-strapped fighter fighting his own battles. We were impressed by the film’s attention to detail. The makeup team delivered a startlingly realistic red-eye injury, and the audio mixing lets every line and ambient sound come through clearly—from a solemn graveyard chat to the raucous chatter in a beer pub. Drone shots of Ikoyi’s skyline and Mushin’s bustling streets create a powerful visual contrast, showing how boxing bridges social divides. Tobi Bakre and Olarotimi Fakunle’s chemistry brings heart to both the ring and quieter moments. With dynamic fight cinematography, strong performances and an emotional core of perseverance, The Other Side of the Bridge offers both action and soul. We rate it 8/10.

I understand you see grit and redemption, but I'd say the film's focus on community bonds and healing feels more relevant.

It mentions a must-win tournament to save a gym, but I wonder if the pacing might feel rushed with so many big stars involved.

E no too realistic make one ex-teen champ just show up and handle Femi Branch without proper training catch-up.

Schedule this one when you can focus—it seems packed with boxing action and drama, so full attention will pay off.
