Ebonyi Court Remands Man Over Cousin’s Alleged Murder in Inheritance Dispute
A Magistrates’ Court in Abakaliki has ordered that 34-year-old Chidiebere Okoro be remanded at the Federal Correctional Centre pending advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions. Okoro faces a one-count murder charge for the death of his cousin, Nnennaya Onu, who was allegedly killed and her body burnt in December 2021 at Amagu, Anike in Onicha LGA. The prosecutor says the killing stemmed from a dispute over their late father’s inheritance. The case has been adjourned to May 7 for mention. The offence contravenes Section 390 of the Criminal Code of Ebonyi State.
