ADC Chairman Bala Gombe Protests Interference, Submits Petition to INEC
Tensions rose within the African Democratic Congress when factional National Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe led supporters to Abuja in protest. He accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of trying to meddle in ADC affairs. Chanting slogans and holding placards, the group demanded that these political figures leave the party’s internal structure untouched. Gombe warned that ADC is not a refuge for political convenience and must follow its own vision and leadership. House of Representatives member Leke Abejide joined the demonstration and stressed the need to protect ADC’s identity. He warned that external imposition could undermine the party’s credibility. Observers say the protest highlights deeper divisions as Nigeria’s opposition reshapes ahead of the 2027 elections. ADC stakeholders are expected to clarify leadership roles and address concerns over outside influence.
